The following story was submitted by Nancy’s daughter, Holly. She and her husband, Wil, have 5 children and are members here at First Baptist Church.

We talked about Heaven a lot at our house after Mom died of cancer. The kids had a hard time understanding how grandma’s body was in the grave, but her soul and her spirit, who she really was, was in Heaven with Jesus. My 5 year old daughter, Emma, especially had lots of questions. I always tried to answer them the best I knew how and always pointed her to the fact that Grandma knew before she died that she would be in Heaven and that the Bible tells us we can know that for sure.

I wore my bracelet almost every day after I received it. It was a great reminder of Mom and of the people at church who loved our family and were praying for us. The kids often asked what all the colors meant and I patiently explained them over and over. I had forgotten to put it on one morning and my son Tucker brought it to me and was asking me about the colors again. I put it on because I didn’t want it to get lost. With 5 kids in the house, that is a possibility!! That afternoon, Emma came to me and wanted to know how to get to Heaven with Jesus. I sat down with her and we went through the colors of the bracelet and she asked Jesus to be her Saviour! That day was the one-month anniversary of the day Mom went to Heaven.

Mom was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and teacher. Her life touched many other lives in her short 69 years. I am incredibly grateful for the legacy my mom left us kids! Mychildren are the 5th generation of believers in our family (that I know of, it could be more). What an incredible heritage! Were all those people perfect? Of course not. But they did live their lives loving and serving our incredible God, knowing that the precious blood of Christ covered all their sins.

Mom is in Heaven today rejoicing with the angels that another soul was saved, even more so because that soul was her granddaughter.

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. II Timothy 3:15
